1. Purpose of Job
Reporting to the Senior European Product Manager, you will define and drive all aspects of regional product management for your defined product categories with a high degree of ownership. The role is inherently cross-functional and you will work closely across a broad range of disciplines and departments both internal and external including External Partners, Internal Sales and Marketing, Product Development Operations, Sourcing Customer Service and executive stake holders. You will lead in the establishment of suitable go to market strategies that will ensure profitability and success in line with the company’s budgeted sales plan.
The role requires customer focus, passion and a track record in the IT hardware and peripherals and consumer electronics space would be advantageous but not essential. A successful candidate should be able to define the future vision for their product categories, understand our regional and technical challenges while simultaneously working with our sales and marketing organisations to build customer relationships and grow the business in line with the strategy.
2. Principal Accountabilities and Key Tasks.
Be the category expert (including competitive landscape) for all managed categories and work alongside the global product, development and sourcing teams in ensuring the vision for the EMEA business in relation to your categories is clearly conveyed and understand and becomes part of the global launch strategy for this category.
Establish strategic direction for your product categories, including cross channel plans to deliver regional and category specific financial & growth targets.
Drive & deliver the right Go to Market strategy and marketing mix for your defined categories & products (pricing, promotion, channel placement, messaging) to ensure the business meets its sales and financial objectives.
Identify business threats and opportunities (SWOT) based on market and competitive analysis. Work with global and regional marketing managers to develop and implement marketing campaigns and plans to minimize threats and capitalize on opportunities.
Working with the central marketing (channel & communications) team, support development and approve messaging and copy for packaging, PR, Web and collateral.
Train the sales team and on the strategic direction of your categories and products via presentations, product training, samples and field support as required.
Manage deal/tender pricing and work together with the demand planner in developing ongoing monthly sales forecasts and managing OSMI (Obsolete Slow Moving Inventory) – develop & drive promotional plans to sell out through sales.
Ensure products are properly setup within our ERP systems and own the establishment and communication of end of life strategies including transition plans from old to new products.
Establish initial inventory forecasts, and support the forecasting process with the Supply Chain team.
Attend trade shows and channel events to provide product expertise and participate in press events & press tours to evangelize new products & category strategy.
3. Competencies Required
Educated to degree level, ideally within a Marketing or Business degree
Minimum 5 years relevant experience in a previous or current product marketing / product management role.
Some level of Business Development and customer facing experience is ideal.
Experience in project management and demonstrable ability to multi-task.
A strategic thinker, demonstrates strong analytical and commercial skills
Capable of initiating and leading projects and developing product launch plans by leading cross-functional teams.
Self-motivated and capable of working on their own initiative without the day to day manager interaction
Strong organisational, cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
Time – management – ability to organise work, manage time and work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communicator with the ability to gain buy-in for product, marketing and design objectives.
Must be technology savvy – understand and be familiar with current technology trends, including how consumers use technology for both personal and business uses.
Good numerical skills and capable of analysing, interpreting and making strategic recommendations based on data from sales-in and sales-out, P&Ls, pricing and inventory reports.
Strong presentation and negotiation skills – with the ability to make presentations at all levels to internal stake holders and external channel and end user partners.
PC literate with excellent MS Office skills and knowledge of ERP systems will be an advantage
Business level English
A 2nd European language would be desirable
Ambitious and flexible with an eagerness to learn and develop within a fast-paced team
Experience with project management software would be beneficial.
