Technical Sales and Proposal Engineer
Job Description
Proposal Management (70%)
- Act as a bridge between the proposal team and customers/sub-suppliers to ensure effective technical and commercial proposals to secure bids.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop proposals and lead proposal milestone meetings, sometimes occurring outside typical working hours.
- Navigate cultural nuances and communication styles within teams.
- Analyze Request for Quote (RFQ) details and convey technical specifications to the team.
- Initiate proposal engineering efforts, prepare formal proposal documents, and estimate labor and material costs.
- Manage multiple proposals simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
- Validate and submit final proposals through customer portals.
- Ensure proposals align with internal governance and profitability expectations, understanding terms and conditions and non-price elements.
- Coordinate technical issue resolutions among Proposal, Technical, and customer teams.
- Monitor RFQ and purchase order portals, updating the entire team on outcomes.
- Review received orders and facilitate project handover as needed.
Customer Relations (20%)
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to stay informed about potential RFQs and competitive bids.
- Respond promptly to emails, phone calls, and conduct regular client visits.
- Identify new business opportunities and strive for exceptional customer satisfaction.
Other Tasks (10%)
- Develop and present on WP solutions and product offerings.
- Generate monthly and quarterly sales pipeline and account overviews.
- Drive process improvements and other assigned tasks.

Required Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering field.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in machine views, assembly layouts, and part manufacturing/process drawings.
- Skilled in developing lean robotic cells based on production requirements.
- Basic knowledge of automobile machining and assembly lines; familiarity with Electric Vehicles is advantageous.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD (intermediate), Solid Edge (basic), and ERP systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Capable of delivering effective presentations.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Works well under pressure with strong organization skills.
- Willing to travel regionally within Michigan (30% travel required).
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid driver’s license and access to transportation.
