Press Brake Operator

Today, we are a major player on the European market for functional lighting solutions. Our products are developed and manufactured 100% locally at our Malle-based (Belgium) headquarters, but we also sell internationally from several European offices.

As a press brake operator, your job is to operate press brake machines to shape various types of metal. In this role, you may inspect blueprints for a project, set up your machine, perform regular maintenance, inspect metal while shaping it, and adjust as needed.
  • You are responsible for setting up various sheet metal processing machines and installations.
  • Additionally, you assist in operating these installations.
  • You produce according to the applicable quality standards and ensure quantitative output.
  • You are also responsible for carrying out the necessary (preventive) maintenance on these machines.
  • In all of this, you always take all necessary safety measures into account and ensure good communication within the team.

  • Ideally, you have a technical diploma and relevant experience, but a strong technical interest and technical insight are even more important. Therefore, you will receive comprehensive internal training upon starting.
  • You can read technical drawings. This knowledge will be necessary to program the machine to achieve the desired final product.
  • You can maintain a fast pace and are motivated to deliver very high-quality work.
  • You are willing to work in a bi-weekly full-time system (36 hours) for 4/6 days (day shifts or day/late shifts). You work every other Saturday.
  • Precision, dexterity, a sense of responsibility, and self-reliance are your strongest assets. You enjoy working as part of a team and can also deliver the required results under time pressure.
  • You have good and clear English skills at B2 level, as this is the language you will communicate in.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience working as an operator.
Regular hours per week 36h/week – 4-day system
Paycheck Monthly
Gross salary / hour €18.0249 gross per hour, with advancement to class C €18.6933 gross per hour after 20 working days
Shift allowance + 12.5% late shift - No bonus is provided for the day shift.
Average net salary / month €2050 - €2100
Including the average for the late shift (+6%). Since the person will be working on the late shift every two weeks, we have taken into account the average shift allowance in this calculation.

Overtime Normally not, but occasionally they may occur.
Working hours Weekly work schedule alternating between day and late shifts. During the start-up and training period, the employee works during day hours.

Week 1:
Morning from 07:20 to 09:50 and from 10:00 to 12:00
Afternoon from 12:20 to 14:50 and from 15:00 to 17:00
On Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Week 2:
Afternoon from 13:00 to 18:00
Evening from 18:20 to 22:00

After 9 months, the candidate may move to a permanent contract with the client (if one is offered). To move to a permanent contract, the employee must have their own housing.
Upon moving to a permanent contract, the employee will also receive:
  • Eco vouchers: 250 EUR per year (reference period from October to September)
  • DKV hospitalization insurance
  • Extra-legal pension: 2.39% employer contribution to the security fund of the metalworking industry
  • Annual access to a variable bonus (from 6 months of service)

  • The cost of the travel to Belgium is paid by the employee. We do not cover the cost of travel to Belgium.

It is possible that the client will ask the candidate to perform a technical test, which will prove that the candidate has sufficient background and technical knowledge.
  • The first interview will be with a recruiter to ensure that the candidate is aware of the vacancy and the terms and conditions for which he/she is applying. We will also check the candidate's motivation to work for the position they applied for.
  • The second interview will be with the company HR representative via Teams/Zoom in English.
